Musician's are eager for the Grammy's, thespian's count down the days until the Academy Awards, and fashionista's patiently await the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual gala.
The Met Gala is arguably the most stylish night. Celebrities and industry influencers celebrate the art of fashion.
This year, The Met's Costume Institute announced the theme as "Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion."
The dresses were ornate, structural, and sultry. There was lots of sparkles and skin. With every red carpet event, there are the "yey's," and "ney's." We have compiled a collection of looks that we thought to be the most gorgeous.
There were a few standouts for us. Although Rhihanna's dress was not our absolute favorite, we love that she took the plunge and wore a creative piece that literally took over the carpet. Dwane Wade stuck out to us for the Asian detail in his outfit. We loved the contrasting red sach to his midnight blue suit. Courtney Eaton wore one of our favorite gold dresses of the night; her detailed hair accessories pulled her Southeast Asian inspired outfit together.
Talking about an ageless beauty, Helen Mirren looked gorgeous in her red cutout floor length dress. Another gorgeous tiered red dress was worn by George Clooney's wife Amal. Two thumbs up to Justin Bieber for wearing an ornate blazer to compliment the night's theme.
As far as hair goes, many woman opted to pull it back in a bun. The buns were either tousled, structured, or braided. Emphasis was put on eyes for the evening. We saw lots of smokey and cat eyes.
This year's Asian inspired theme was a refreshing change from last years Punk theme. Femininity and fashion were celebrated, and it turned out to be a memorable red carpet event!
