Tools of the Trade

There are some moments during your life that you will never forget.  A couple years ago Michelle, Salon Manager, walked past Tim's styling chair and over heard a client tell Tim he was a Hair God. He finished her blowdry a moment later, and responded with a witty comment.

“It’s not me, it’s the [YS Park] brush.”
— Timothy Pamment

Tim had been partly joking and partly speaking truth.  Yes, he is technically a brilliant stylist.  He did however bring up a great point that day.  A well made brush makes a world of a difference.  The YS Park brush enhanced his client's blowout; the brush smoothed and added shine to her hair.

Kevyn Aucoin has produced a line of cosmetic tools that is loved by both our Makeup Artist, Holly, and Salon clients.  The line carries 13 brushes, an eyelash curler, and pencil sharpener.  The brushes are natural goat hair and/or synthetic depending on the brush's purpose. They have been created to allow for precise application.

The beauty industry loves Shu Uemura's eyelash curler.  Kevyn Aucoin had assisted in the development of this curler.  He did express that he wasn't completely satisfied with the curler and saw further adjustments to be made.  When he developed his own cosmetic line, he made these modifications.  His lash curler is now the professional's preference.  If your interested in reading more about "How to Curl Lashes (The Right Way)," click the title link!

Eye Want That Wand

The Ellis Faas black mascara has become our client's favorite beauty product (coming up second is the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil).  By the end of this article, you too will be saying, "'Eye' want that wand!"

This mascara deliver's longer, thicker, "false-like" lashes.  Many beauty brands that claim to give the same results, do not fully deliver.  The Ellis Faas mascara has our stamp of approval!

Packaged in a sleek silver pen-like container, the twist top reveals a stylish long wand with a medium size brush applicator. The brush allows those with shorter lashes to get close to the lash line and sweep up with ease.  The tightly packed bristles are evenly distributed, which allows the mascara to properly separate, define, lengthen, and add volume.

Although not waterproof, it does offer flexibility which allows for multiple touch up applications throughout the day.  You can go from a one-coat application, perfect for daytime, and kick it up a notch with two more coats for a nighttime glam look.

This is the very first non-waterproof mascara that does not streak when I’m crying, which I do frequently.
